Mr. President, Dwight Hammond Jr and his son Steven were wrongly convicted of arson for performing a controlled burn on federal property they lease. This burn was to control the spread of an invasive species of weed. They were prosecuted as having committed arson under a Terrorist act. This was an act of protecting an asset. If in fact it was a terrorist act...who were they trying to terrorize out in the middle of nowhere Oregon. They have peacefully surrendered to authorities for re-incarceration on a judges order stating they hadn't served enough time. So now these "Terrorist Ranchers" are taking up prison space for an act committed in 2001 just because some federal prosecuter wanted to make a name for himself by convicting terrorist.
