The Pardon of Pvt Eddie Slovik

On 31 January 1945 Pvt Eddie Slovik was executed by firing squad in France. Pvt Slovik was the last US Soldier executed for desertion during WW2. I have done some research on Pvt Slovik and came to the conclusion that Pvt Slovik did commit the offense (desertion) that he was convicted off but that his punishment was uncommon and more strict then deserved. I ask that all that read this petition, do their own home work on Pvt Eddie Slovik and if you come to the same conclusion that I have, that you sign this petition and that President Obama finally grant Pvt Slovik a pardon that his wife Antoinette Slovik and others have worked so hard to obtain. As a veteran of the US Army myself, I understand the need for discipline and even force of discipline but the punishment should fit the crime.
