Troy Anthony Davis was an American man executed on September 21, 2011, for the August 19, 1989, murder of police officer Mark MacPhail in Savannah, Georgia.
His case was called into serious question when:
Seven the nine witnesses who testified at his trial have recanted or changed their testimony.
Witnesses claim they were pressured to testify against Davis by police.
A state's witness now says another man murdered the Office Mark Allen MacPhail.
No DNA or fingerprint evidence link him to the crime
The murder weapon was never located.
Davis maintained his innocence from the time of his arrest.
