Parents Not Required To Pay For Grown Ups!

Created by K.S. on August 18, 2016

It is my opinion that parents should not be required to complete the income portion of the FASFA. FASFA requirements need to be based on students not the family income. A parent should always have a choice in how their hard earned money is spent. It is also my opinion that parents should not be required to provide this information for 6 years after graduation (until a student is 24 years old). If we have to provide it, at least make the time more reasonable 4 years. (Until they turn 22). We cannot tell our adult children if they can or cannot drink, have sex, use drugs, or even, God forbid, commit a crime, yet we are expected to contribute thousands of dollars to their education whether we can afford it or not. FASFA Laws needs to change to reflect the new middle class family.
