A Commercial high speed rail system would be benificial to America as a whole, everyone's lives would be improved. Initially the jobs it would create in construction, technology, science, education, operations, maintenance, and engineering would be sustainable. It would have sustained job creation and make us more competetive with the panama canal and other shipping portals. Good for the environment because of the lower use of fossil fuel produced energy and other byproducts of shipping and commuting. Good for infrastructure because if built correctly with expansion in mind, local and state franchises could tie in making it possible for passenger use for commuting miles from say rural W. VA to Washington D.C. for work everyday,at less than the cost of a cab across town.
