Pass the 28th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States banning the sale of all guns

Created by S.H. on December 20, 2012

The recent Connecticut killings have set off a series of new agitations for gun control, but fundamentally, we must question the role of guns in our society. Are guns necessary to enforce a peaceful society? Should they be kept in the hands of the responsible, and if yes, how does one determine who those "responsible" individuals are? No precedent currently exists for such criteria. Something has to change.

Therefore, I propose a new constitutional amendment. The amendment shall abolish the sale, importation, and purchase of firearms of all types one year after it is so enacted.

We have the ability to live and thrive in an America whose civil freedoms are not dominated by an inherently violent society. Please join me in making this happen.
