Future generations have the right to be protected from debts accumulated from past generations. This petition would require the Congress to operate within its means so that its is not mortgaging other generations. This would help to prevent crises, like the fiscal cliff, in the future. While the Congress and President are unwilling or unable to rein in the debt, a Constitutional amendment may be the only way to get the debt under control.
