On March 9, 2010, then-Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi delivered a speech stating, "we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it". This practice is outrageous and extremely dangerous.
Our politicians need a legal smack down and I would like to propose legislation through this petition which will make passing bills/laws/legislation without reading them illegal. Illegal for a President to pressure a congress into doing this and illegal for congress to vote on something they have no information on.
We vote these people into office to do the work of the people. They are compensated extremely well to be giving excuses and skirting law. I suggest the consequences be extremely high to deter this from EVER happening again, even giving up their seat/position if need be.
