The Obama White House should:
- Work to reinstate the Federal Assault Weapons Ban, which expired under a sunset rule in 2004. This would prohibit the manufacture of new semi automatic assault-style firearms.
Attorney General Eric Holder attested to the White House's desire to reinstate this ban in 2009.
- Close the Gun Show Loophole which lets people purchase guns without a background check in over 30 states.
Recent polling shows that 69% of National Rifle Association (NRA) members support closing this loophole.
- Require gun owners to alert police if their guns are lost or stolen.
78% of NRA members support this common sense proposal in recent polling.
