The switch from fossil fuels to clean energy will likely be the defining struggle of the 21st century. If we want to slow down climate change, end our dependence on foreign oil, create domestic jobs, protect the health of our citizens, stop supporting rogue regimes, and re-energize American innovation, then we will have to take bold action to support a new clean energy economy.
Steps to take could include, but are not limited to:
- a nation-wide cap & trade program
- Renewable Electricity & Efficiency Standards
- tax incentives for making and buying clean energy
- investing in clean energy R&D, electric car plug-in stations, public transportation such as high-speed rail, and clean energy projects on federal lands and buildings
- streamline the process for approving offshore wind farms
