Pass a Comprehensive Immigration Reform this year

Created by J.L. on January 16, 2013

If we pass Comprehensive Immigration Reform, meaning that we secure the borders, address the root causes of migration, formulate a reasonable and practical method to determine levels of migration, and provide a pathway to legalization for all current undocumented migrants, it will boost our GPD. A report by the CATO institute shows that the GPD of the U.S would rise by .84%, which is about a 1.5 trillion cumulative increase in the GPD over the next 10 years. Another reason that we should pass a comprehensive immigration reform is that it will increase all workers’ wages. The wages of native-born high and low skilled workers would rise under a reform because the “wage floor” rises for all the workers. Moreover, legalized workers invest more in their human capital making them productive workers
