Politicians elected to Congress, especially those that are elected in heavily favored districts tend to abuse the office which they hold the longer they are there. The focus is on staying in office rather than getting things done and doing they job they are elected to do. This proposal is to create a Constitutional Amendment that would limit a Senator to two consecutive terms, 12 years, and a Congressman to three consecutive terms, 6 years. This will help ensure that our elected representatives continue to focus on representing, rather than using their office for their own gain of political power or persuasion. This act will NEVER happen unless there is a ground swell of support from the American people. We must make it clear that we absolutely INSIST that they are held accountable.
