Everyone who has earned enough credits to get Social security but who are not yet old enough should be allowed to receive $1500 to get cremated upon their death. We pay a lot of money into this program and if we were to pass before we can collect it then what good does it do? For example, a single women with enough credits, but to young to collect. She has no husband or children and therefore forfeits all her payments to the system. Her family might get $250 for her funeral expenses, but as we know this will not cover the cost. Raising this amount to $1500 is the right thing to do seeing as we pay so much into this program. This amount will help the family during their time of grief by at least covering the cost of cremation.
