The purpose of this petition is to cause the United States Government to either pass a law or for the President of the United States of America to create an Executive Order that protects US Veterans who stand up to defend the American Flag when it's being disrespected and / or who call out people who are committing Stolen Valor.
Veterans should not have to fear being punished by law enforcement or civil courts for standing up and defending that which they and their brothers in arms swore an oath to defend. We respect that people have the right to free speech, but veterans should also have the legal ability to defend flags that are being damaged or burned. They also deserve the legal right to call out individuals who are stealing valor.
