On October 1st, 2015, the 20th school related shooting of the year 2015 took place in Roseburg Oregon.
In a televised interview Sherif John Hanlin gave a press meeting in which he specifically stated "I will not name the shooter; I will not give him the credit he sought prior to this horrific and cowardly act"
Shortly after, multiple media sourced named the shooter, and gave him the credit he sought.

We ask that legislation make it illegal for media outlets to name the killers in shooting to come, as a way to strip the glory they desperately desire.
If we stop naming the shooters, stop talking about who they were and what they did, and instead talk about this victims, we can help start the change we need
