As an Assyrian American, I am up appalled by the Administration's lack of leadership in the midst of the ISIS crisis in Syria. Whether the President wishes to acknowledge it or not, ISIS is waging a war against my fellow Assyrians for no other reason than their Christian faith.
At a minimum, I call on the President to pass an executive order declaring that all applications for political asylum (for religious persecution) by Assyrians in Syria be expedited.
Most of the Assyrians in Syria have family in the US and some, seeking to escape the violence, have been waiting years caught up the red tape trying to immigrate to this country.
