pass an executive order that prevents congress from unilateraliy granting itself, pay raises and other benefits

Created by D.L. on November 18, 2011

The safeguards instilled in our Constitution are designed to prevent any one branch of government from weilding too much power. Checks and balances and separtion of power are supposed to be the tools that prevent this sort of power shift. Yet, congress has unliteral power to vote itself pay raises and many other forms of compensation. Congress has the power to exempt itself from laws jeopardizing fair trade. Congress has the power to create laws that reinforce and strengthen the legislative branch of power. This directly conflicts with the necessary safeguards instilled in our Constitution. An executive order modifiying congressional power or judicial review of congressional powers needs to take place. This is not a petition which needs a response from the WH, it needs action.
