The federal DREAM Act (Development,Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act) would provide hard working undocumented immigrant youth a path to legalizing their status in the U.S. It would benefit students who came to the U.S. at age 15 or younger at least 5 years before the date of the bill's enactment. In order to benefit from this legislation students have to:
1) Be of good moral character
2) Graduate high school
3) Graduate from a 2 year college or complete two years of a B.A. degree
4) Serve in the U.S. armed forces for two years
These students have spent the majority of their lives in the U.S. and are an asset to the country. This legislation will change their lives and expand their opportunities. It will increase their average future earnings and also the amount of taxes they pay.
