The poll tax was rightly banned in 1966 as a violation of the Constitution (being a tax on the right to vote). The property tax is a violation of these same principles as it is a tax on the right to own private property.
Just as those who didn't pay the poll tax had their voting rights confiscated, so those who don't pay the property tax have their private property confiscated. The property tax is a highly regressive tax which hits the poor and elderly the hardest.
And unlike taxes on income, sales, and capital gains, the property tax is levied on non-liquid assets (primarily land), creating even more of a burden.
A property tax system means that citizens must pay rent to the government in perpetuity for property they already own, and so we undersigned seek its nationwide abolition.
