pass a federal law that prohibits shipping of live animals specifically for retail sale as pets, such as puppies.

Created by G.B. on January 27, 2015

The goal of this petition is to pass a federal law that prohibits the shipping of domesticated animals in the USA. The purchase of, or sale of any living animal intended to be a household pet should be done only in person between the breeder and the buyer, there should not be any allowed shipping as cargo of these living animals, specifically since they are not livestock or part of any industrial food system. They should be protected by a law of this nature, which also will help prevent animal cruelty of this and other forms that are byproducts of the businesses that rely on shipment of animals such as "puppy mills" and similar businesses. By-products of this law would effectively ban pet shops of all kinds, animal breeding factories, and any "not a breeder" operations that ship animals.
