Pass federal legislation requiring elected officials read, in their entirety, all pieces of legislation they intend to vote on, including amendments. Legislators, on both sides of the aisle, have historically shown that they do not regularly read the bills they intend to enact into legislation. This is a failure by our elected officials who we entrust, per the social contract as citizens of the US, will accurately be representing our interests and opinions.
It is our opinion, that without reading in its entirety prior to voting, the legislator cannot accurately grasp and fully comprehend the long term impact of the law or bill. Also, they, therefore, cannot make an educated and accurate vote that will represent the opinions of their constituency on the motioned piece of legislation.
