Whereas 4,734,991 Americans served during World War One from 1917-1918 and 116,516 gave their lives in action and were killed by disease in and from theater, there exists no national memorial to their service. The Frank Buckles WWI Memorial Act (HR 222) would create a memorial on the National Mall (paid for privately and with no tax dollars) to honor these heroes. Named after Pershing's Last Patriot Frank Buckles, this bill has been introduced 4 times and has yet to be passed into law. As the world advances towards a billion dollar remembrance during the anniversary (2014-2018) America stands alone in not having a memorial to it's veterans from the 'Great War'. Let us now complete the circle of honor and have a memorial to all of the wars from the 20th Century on the National Mall.
