Pass a law allowing US citizens to marry their imaginary friends, imaginary best friends or imaginary acquaintances.

Created by C.C. on November 25, 2011

For too long have people lacked the freedom to marry figments of their own imagining. I propose that marriage rights should be given to the imaginary and that any consenting imaginary being should have the right to be wed.

I have seen countless people, albeit schizophrenic or mentally incapacitated people, come to me pleading for an illegal marriage ceremony between themselves and their imaginary love. It fills me with sadness when I think of how many imaginary people wish to be a spouse.

As a priest, I have found an overwhelming number of people come to me asking for me to bind them in holy matrimony to a person that they have made up in their own head. And why shouldn't they? What gives anyone the right to say that the product of someone's mind has no value and does not deserve rights?
