Pass a law to force wireless data providers to offer a basic "Data Only" plan. A monthly plan without a contract.

Created by G.K. on April 04, 2013

Currently wireless data providers only offer data plans bundled with services such as a phone number, texting, voicemail etc. These come at a significant cost to the consumer.
All these features can be obtained on the internet given a data connection in a mobile device from providers such as Google voice, Skype and others. A consumer who owns a smart device only needs the data connection.

Benefits: A more fair and competitive marketplace for wireless internet access. The consumer can separate the cost of the internet connection from the cost of the smart device. Wireless providers can no longer overcharge for texting and voice minutes.

A monthly plan without a contract allows consumers to compare the data plans using an apples to apples comparison.
