Pass a law to make it illegal for insurance companies of any type to base your rates on your credit score. Its a form of discrimination that only kicks the financially challenged when they are down. Insurance shouldnt be more expensive for the credit challenged for 2 reasons. (1) You pay for insurance as you go and it is not a loan of any type that the insurance companies extend to you. You either pay or get cut off. (2) Having bad credit DOES NOT automatically make you a bad driver. Thats where the discrimination comes in. If you constantly make your insurance payment on time it doesnt get reported on your credit report to help your score therfore they shouldnt be able to use your credit score against you. The last thing we need is to make insurance cost more for the credit challenged.
