I am asking for a law that requires every single patrolling police officer to wear a body cam. This is to safeguard both police officers and citizens from wrongdoing. It should include a clause that requires every single encounter to be filmed from beginning to end. If the officer is found to not be recording during any encounter, he shall be suspended, fined or terminated based on the encounter. I am making this request in lieu of recent events in Baltimore.
On average, police departments that have already employed this tactic have seen a decline of around 60% of police misconduct. The cams have also exonerated police officers from complaints of citizens.
