We have no right to own a gun any more than to drive a car. Owning a gun should be a privilege earned and safe guards need to be taken in the same manner as automobile ownership has. We can own a race car but we can't race it in the street. We don't let blind people drive and if you act carelessly and drive drunk you lose your license. Your insurance is manditory and it goes up if you are a careless driver. I think gun owners should have to carry insurance to cover any damage they may inflict. You will then see those insurance companies put a clamp down on gun violence if they have to pay out.
