I am entirely too tired of hearing stupidity flow from the mouths of elected officials. If an official does not understand the basic concept of biology, then they should not be allowed to weigh-in on laws that affect the bodies of others. Common sense should be enough to run the country, but alas, it seems as though there needs to be a certain level of competence established before even common sense is present.
I propose there be a minimum IQ standard of at least 115, the middle of "High Average" category, in order to hold any public office. IQ tests are not prejudiced, they simply demonstrate mental competence. If your favorite elected official cannot meet this requirement, they can implement their ideas the same way the rest of us do: write their congress-person and vote.
