Allergic reactions and asthma attacks are dangerous and sometimes deadly, so why don't schools take precautions to make sure they don't claim lives? In most schools, Epi-Pens and inhalers are kept locked up in nurse's offices. Teachers may receive emergency training in administering Epi-Pens, but it is no good if the pens are in another building under lock and key. Emergency asthma attacks and allergic reactions aren't like sickness. If a child is suffering from one, there is no time for someone to run to another room on the other side of the school to retrieve an inhaler or a pen: they need treatment NOW and there is no time to waste or a child might be lost. For this reason, I believe that pens and inhalers should be kept in every school hallway, if not in every classroom.
