As seen with EA's recent Simcity launch, always-on DRM did not prevent piracy, as was initially intended. Instead, it restricted the ability of people to play a game they had payed $60 and up for, forcing people to wait for a free spot in a server. It also makes playing a used game impossible, and kills small businesses dealing in used games. All of this led to EA being voted the worst company in America for the second year in a row by Consumerist magazine. We ask that laws be written and passed to ensure that always-online digital resource management does not progress past this point.
