Have you ever gone to the corner gas station because the price was lower than the guy next door and found out, at the pump, that the “Real” price is significantly higher than the posted price?
In 1999 Congress passed the Fair Labeling and Advertising Act to prevent unfair labeling and advertising that may deceive or mislead consumers.
I believe that gas stations such as BP, Chevron, Etc are in direct non-compliance of this Act because they post their cash prices on the signs outside of the gas stations instead of the Credit/Debit price. Most consumers pay with credit/debit cards and should be able to see what price they are going to pay.
I would like to petition the US Government to force fair advertising policies on gas stations that provide fuel to the American consumer.
