pass legislation that requires the congress and senate to negotiate in the interest of their constituents

Created by M.M. on December 24, 2012

Too often members of Congress align to their party and not to the people who have voted them in. There should be congressional rules that prevents a member from being penalized by not voting with their party. This country is not represented by the simplistic binary of outcomes and that just two views is all that we can embrace. The current process allows for senior members and "the party" to bully congress into making votes they don't entirely believe in. While the process of debate and negotiation is critical to provide compromise along with check and balances it creates a wedge between parties and even their own members at times.
