Since the 1970's, all candidates for President of the United States have made their tax returns public.
Tax returns and the currently required financial disclosure form, provide a comprehensive view of the candidate’s finances.
Allowing the public to review returns gives voters key insights into candidate’s charitable donations, tax rates, tax deductions, real estate holdings, investments, debts and importantly, debtors.
As the President is exempt from conflict of interest laws, voters must assess financial character and assets of candidates to know how they will govern independent of personal holdings or interests and overcome bias potentially created by debts and debtors.
We ask that the White House champion a bill that makes it law for candidates to release their tax returns.
