PASS A NATIONAL LIVING WAGE LAW

Created by C.E. on November 12, 2012

All workers deserve a living wage level that allows the worker to afford adequate shelter, food and the other necessities of life. To that end we propose Mr. President that you pressure Congress to pass a living wage law that calculates this wage using the formula from the Economic Policy Institute's Family Budget Calculator for each metro area in the country. That wage then needs to be pegged to the Consumer Price Index for that metro area and increased/decreased annually. If the cost of living goes down for that area then the wage would be reduced, but if not it must be increased. Once in place a living wage will allow most workers to live without government assistance, provide for their own families, and have enough money to boost the local economy. This is what a stimulus looks like!
