At one time unions had a place in ensuring better working conditions and better pay. They are no longer the driving force in this area and are actually causing harm. They prevent disciplinary action against those employees that perform poorly, they kill bussinesses by striking, they have become a for profit organization with many leaders earning six digit salaries. No employee should be forced to contribute to any organization in order to have a job. In the states that force employees to contribute to unions to have a job it is like having a tax to a private organization. If the employee chooses to be part of a union that is a choice that the individual makes. Forcing participation in a union should be illegal.
