The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have cost the United States approximately $1.4 trillion with no plan on recouping these costs. Additionally, the medical costs associated with caring for our veterans of these wars will be in the billions of dollars over the decades to come.
These wars should be paid and our veterans should be cared for without financial worry. To do this, a telecommunications tax of 3% of any telephone bill should be levied to recoup these costs, and should continue until the war costs are recovered or 40 years, whichever is first.
One-half of the the tax shall be directed toward deficit reduction only and one-half directed toward Afghanistan and Iraq veteran medical cost support only, and shall not be used for any other purpose.
