Social Security has a trust fund that you pay into. That trust fund was formed to provide enough money to save social security for the baby boomers and beyond. The other part of social security was designed to pay for current social security recipients. The trust fund, however, is broke. The federal government has been taking this money for other things, mainly defense spending. This is our money and it has been stolen from us by our own government. Our government must pay back this amount (in the trillions) and stop taking from the trust fund and save social security now and for future generations.
