Two factors that have always been entirely out of keeping with one another are Congress's desire to keep the Federal Minimum Wage below the poverty line, and Congress's desire to keep Congress's pay above what might be called the "luxury line." It is our belief that the only way to keep these two opposing forces in check is to tie them irrevocably together. There are members of congress that may feel that they cannot live in their area of the nation on only the federal minimum wage plus their current expense, travel, and medical benefits. To those members we say that it is acceptable to raise the federal minimum wage. There are some that say the federal minimum wage is too high for employers in some areas. It is also acceptable for congress to lower their pay in keeping with that choice.
