I'm a Nation Guard soldier going through a line of duty medical separation from the military. My petition is that National Guard soldiers going through this process should be placed on active duty orders and paid active duty pay until which time they are either separated or found fit for duty.
National Guard soldiers go through the exact same process as their active duty counter parts in the medical discharge (MEB/PEB) process, but unlike active duty military members the National Guard soldiers do not receive medical services until after the process is complete in most cases. In addition, National Guard soldiers still have to attend drills in order to receive their drill pay ($237 a month in my case).
My own experience is I can't work, and I was injured in 2006 and still waiting in 2013.
