Ever since reparation payments have been recorded, every group from the Japanese Americans to the Native Americans have received some form of payment from the U.S. government. For almost 250 years my ancestors were forced to work on plantations under the harshest conditions, stripped of their identity, and history, given new names, and treated worse than the beasts that sometimes worked alongside them. The affects of slavery can still be felt today. Many of us still don't know the history of our ancestors, who we really are as a people. Japanese Americans were given $1.2 billion dollars, so for 250 years of slavery, we are asking for $5 million for each black family in the United States. This is by no means close to the actual figure but it will help. Thank you for your consideration.
