Members of Congress are paid entirely too much money after they retire from service. By paying them the national average income, their stake in the health of the economy will be greatly increased.
Our government is constantly running at a deficit, and if the government cannot operate properly, it's members should not be rewarded for this.
In addition, by reducing the amount of money paid to these people, the surplus funds can be applied to balancing a budget.
