Payment Card Processors charge a fee to the merchant if the merchant wins a dispute on a chargeback (disputed charge)

Created by J.H. on November 19, 2012

Payment Card Processors for Visa and Mastercard charge a fee to a merchant even if the merchant wins a dispute/chargeback when a customer claims that they did not make the charge. This costs small businesses a considerable amount of money. Usually the fee is between $20-$25 per transaction. This should only be charged to a merchant if the charge to someone's debit/credit card was legitimate.
