We Marylanders hereby petition for our withdrawal from the Union, together with the retrocession of territories originally ceded to the Federal City in 1790. The existence of the federal government has been a great hindrance to our statehood, and its tyranny over territories given to it, by us, to host its seat of government is not a state of affairs we can render to our Posterity.
Although there are many grievances that Marylanders legitimately hold against the federal government, not the least of which is its recognition of the "Mason-Dixon Line," the ultimate insult to our territorial integrity, we are willing to, for now, forego these claims and simply secede as a Union of Maryland and Columbia, and allowing thirty (30) days for all other parties' evacuation to Occupied Philadelphia.
