For decades, the industrial and post-industrial areas of Northern Ohio have been dragged down both economically and politically by Southern Ohio. If you were to ask any Ohioan, they would tell you that there are essentially two different states north and south of the interstate (70).
Therefore, I propose that the two sides formally disassociate through separation into two states: Ohio and South Ohio. The border will be drawn at the I-70 line and would curve around the southern border of Columbus, allowing Columbus to be retained as the capital of Ohio.
Meanwhile, South Ohio will continue to support itself on its heavily agricultural economy with its new capital based in Cincinnati, Dayton or Athens.
I would hope that the administration would give serious consideration to this proposal.
