As the founding fathers of the DC Universe made clear in Action Comics in 1938:
"...with great power comes great responsibility..."
And as Abraham Lincoln famously said at Gettysburg:
"The trouble with quotes on the Internet is that it's difficult to determine whether or not they are genuine."
The citizens of Gotham, as well as its sister city Metropolis, have the right to stand for their principles. Superman is granted unalienable (even from Krypton) rights which are not the dispensations of the government, but come from Siegel & Schuster alone. These are the principles that our forefathers stood for, the principles upon, which our petition on behalf of fictional characters is based, and those in which we firmly place our belief and resolve.
