Peacefully grant the City of Houston the ability withdraw from the State of Texas and remain part of the United States.

Created by J.G. on November 14, 2012

During the 2012 presidential election, Harris County, where Houston, Texas is located, voted evenly for the two presidential candidates (the winner only being decided by about 1,000 votes). As the city is evenly divided, the citizens of Houston are not interested in leaving the Union under immature notions and would instead prefer to communicate concerns to the federal government to have them addressed. It is entirely feasible for Houston to operate as its own state, within the United States, in the event that Texas is successful in the current bid to secede. It is important that Houston remain in the Union, as doing so would protect its citizens' standard of living and secure their rights and liberties in accordance with the original ideas and beliefs of our founding fathers
