Puerto Rico has been a colony for over 500 years. First under Spanish rule, now under American neo-colonialism. It is time for Puerto Rico to become an independent state that can control its own destiny. The people of Puerto Rico recently voted in favor of changing the actual colonial relation with the United States.
This will also help the United States reduce its debt and expenses of supporting the people of Puerto Rico and will allow Puerto Ricans to take the reins of their land.
