The US continues to suffer economic difficulties stemming from the federal government's neglect to reform domestic and foreign spending. The citizens of the US suffer from blatant abuses of their rights such as the NDAA, the TSA, etc.
The state of Ohio has proven oil reserves, maintains a diverse economy, and has international airports and seaports (via Lake Erie and the Ohio River). It's economic strong points include banking, insurance, and education. Ohio has a strong tourism industry, is centrally located, and has the tools to be independent and conduct international trade.
Finally, Ohio has the 7th largest GDP and 8th largest personal income, something the state is in danger of losing as long as it remains under these unrealistic economic strains that seem to have no end in sight.
