Puerto Ricans are american citizens since 1917. It was an Spanish colony since 1493 when the Conquistadors invaded the Tainos (same indians that inhabited Florida).
Puerto Rico is a modern latinamerican country where Spanish is the main language. Close to 4 million brown-skinned people live in the island (100 x 35 miles) and many millions in the USA.
The Federal Government rules everything on the island and its economy does not develop well due to the high cost of the US prices when applied to the island's lack of capital (all the important resources belong to US interests).
