There sure are lots of folks asking for their home states to secede from the U.S. These petitions, obviously, will not pass or be taken seriously, even if they do gather the requisite signatures. These petition-makers are kind of nuts. So, instead, let's teach them a bit of a lesson by asking them, through intricate and intimidating legalese, to renounce their citizenship from the U.S. They can become their own sovereign nations! In exchange for "freedoms" in their small area of ownership -- if they own land, that is -- they will have no access to public streets, police, firefighters, schools, water, electricity, or any other U.S.-created infrastructure. They can come back into the fold as citizens at any time, as long as they apologize by smooching a portrait of President Obama.
